Windows 7 – Active Directory User gets prompted for credentials
Windows 7 Active Directory User gets prompted for credentials Hi everyone, I am currently testing Windows 7 Pro in our AD environment and have come across this bizarre issue: - Installation of Windows 7 Pro completes successfully and the computer is joined to our domain. - I am trying to add a domain user with local admin rights and the process completes successfully. - When I login using the credentials of the user created above I cannot access most of the domain resources (i.e. intranet sites, Exchange 2007 autodiscover does not work, access to \\domain\sysvol prompts for credentials, gpupdate fails with event 1053, gpresult returns The user domain\user does not have RSOP data etc ). - The problem seems to be with the specific user in combination to Windows 7 Pro. The same user works just fine on Windows XP and other domain users work fine on the new Windows 7 Pro computer. - I believe that it must be related to some domain user setting I cannot find. It could be that users with certain domain admin rights get this sort of behavior. I tried using the Domain Administrator account on the new Windows 7 computer and the same crippled behavior occurs. I am currently stuck with this one. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, czxccx

Anything useful (errors) in the event logs? Is this the retail release of Windows 7?

No nothing shows in the logs after I add the new user and I login for the first time except for the GPO not being applied (and the gpresult error when I manually execute the command).

Windows 7 Pro x64 final downloaded from MSDN. I also tried formatting and reinstalling, installing x86 version, removing from domain and rejoining and even installed Windows 7 Enterprise but no luck, same behavior.

Adding the MaxTokenSize registry key and setting it to 65535 (decimal) fixed this for me. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\Kerberos\Parameters
